How to accurately apply Grammarly’s English editing to LaTeX papers containing mathematical formulas

My name is Zalgo (@zalgo3 ). I am a doctoral student at Kyoto University.

For a detailed self-introduction, please see the video in which I was interviewed before.

Grammarly is a very powerful English editing tool.

However, when I edit a LaTeX paper, Grammarly does not recognize some LaTeX commands ($$, begin{hoge}, etc.) because they are in the way.

I used to ignore the commands or delete them as necessary, but recently I found a better way.

How to apply Grammarly’s English editing to LaTeX papers containing mathematical expressions

The procedure is simple.

First, compile the LaTeX document into a PDF file.

Next, open the PDF file in Microsoft Word using the right-click menu.

Use Grammarly for Microsoft Word to proofread the document.

That’s it.

Of course, since it is a PDF and not pure text, it may not be able to recognize everything perfectly, but it does recognize and proofread the text with a high degree of accuracy.

Try it!
